Joy Howard was the vocalist/guitarist for a short time with The Whipper Snappers in the early 90s. Joy was also a backing vocalist on a few tracks by other artists: White Cross, Interstellar Villains and Paul Kelly and The Messengers. She formed a duo with Lara Goodridge called Joy and Lara. The pair spent more than a decade touring Australia’s club, concert hall and folk festival circuit after being discovered by visiting Irish legends Lunasa and championed by their Australian tour promoter Gaynor Crawford. Joy & Lara went on to make three much-loved albums, while being regularly invited to open for international luminaries such as Art Garfunkel, Leo Kottke, Bruce Cockburn, and Luka Bloom.
