Liz Dealey (1956-2025) was a vocalist and guitarist with The Sputniks, Acid Drops, and The Twenty Second Sect, and was renowned for possessing one of the most ferocious and unforgettable voices in punk rock. Away from music, Liz devoted her life to making the world a kinder and more compassionate place. Driven by seemingly boundless energy, she founded Melbourne Chicken Save and spent decades bringing passion, determination, and leadership to the animal rights movement, particularly in Melbourne. Liz's inclusive approach, sharp sense of humour, and unmistakable punk rock spirit inspired several generations of activists. She led with her heart on her sleeve, welcoming people into movements and communities with warmth, conviction, and authenticity. Whether on stage or in the streets, Liz brought intensity, courage, and compassion to everything she did. Her legacy lives on through the music she created, the animals she fought to protect, and the countless people whose lives she touched. Liz Dealey died in 2025. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
