Classically trained cellist Helen Mountfort is best know for her work as a composer and performer with bands Not Drowning, Waving, My Friend the Chocolate Cake, Cosmo Cosmolino and The David Chesworth Ensemble. Helen has composed extensively for film and television, both individually and with several of her bands and their members. Film and television credits include
Proof, Hammers Over The Anvil, Say A Little Prayer, That Eye The Sky, What I have Written and
My Brother Jack (which was nominated for best theme award for a television series or mini-series at the Screen Composer Guild Awards). Helen has produced four solo CDs - 'The Persephone Project' is an album of original instrumental music performed by Helen Mountfort with Hope Csutoros, violin and Phillipa Safey, piano. 'Ebb' is an album of ambient cello and piano instrumental music released in 2020. 'The Naked Cello' is a collection of original solo cello music released in 2018. 'Upside Down at the Bottom of the World' is a set of pieces for small ensemble written and recorded for ABC Radio National as a commission for the centenary of federation.
