Yasmin Shoobridge has been singing professionally for over 40 years and has been teaching for around 20 years. She is classically trained in guitar, voice (14 years) and dance (17 years) with contemporary training in the latter two. She is a self-taught jazz guitarist. She has a B. Mus. from the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music and has almost completed two teaching degrees (B.Ed, MCAE, B.Teach – Tas. Uni). She was a member of Yasmin and The Tea Leaves that played a mixture of styles with a combination of vocal harmonies, string band arrangements and cabaret sensibilities. In 1980 Yasmin and the Tea Leaves recorded their first album "Yasmin and the Tea Leaves" and received great reviews from Rolling Stone and other music magazines. They disbanded in 1983. Shoobridge appears as a backing vocalist on many albums including: 'Save Another Day' by Colin James, 'Country Barn Dance' by Tommy Taylor, 'Still Chasin' Rainbows' by Jane Maddick, 'Shadows On The Sand' by Wayne Appleby and 'Australian Made' by Col Millington.
Dedicated to the lesser known women in the music industry from the 60s to the 90s.
