PENNY DYER


Television & band performer, session singer, recording artist & vocal coach, Penny Dyer started out with The Bootleg Family in the early 70s as one of three vocalists. The band had a number of big hits on the Australian single charts

Her distinguished career as a studio vocalist speaks for itself and since 1978, Penny has been heard on over 2000 radio and television commercials. Penny has also maintained a high solo profile within the arena of live television, having been invited to appear regularly on the Daryl Somers Show, Hey Hey It’s Saturday, Ray Martin’s Midday Show, The Ernie Sigley Show, Tonight Live with Steve Vizard and Good Morning Australia with John Foreman. Penny toured America with Brian Cadd and has been featured on a host of classic Australian rock albums including John Farnham’s, ‘Whispering Jack’, Joe Camilleri’s, ‘Hats Off, Step Lively’ & ‘Screaming Targets’, Peter Cupples, ‘Fear of Thunder’, Brian Cadd’s, ‘Moonshine’ and Mike Brady’s, ‘Invisible Man’.

Live international supports range from Michael McDonald and the Doobie Brothers to Al Jarreau, vocal backings in ’92 and ’94 for Randy Crawford plus appearances with Thelma Houston, Barry Manilow, Jackson Browne, Keith Urban, Keb Mo, Isaac Hayes and Errol Brown. WJAZ - 1983 - 1991 was a band project of Penny’s with an 8 year residency at the “Limerick Arms”, creating an opportunity for Australia’s finest vocalists and musicians to sing and play original compositions and classy covers. In 1995, Penny’s first Brazilian/Jazz album, ‘Open Your Eyes, You Can Fly’ received great reviews followed by an original CD in 2000, ‘Adieu Miro’, collaborating with some of Australia’s finest musicians. 

Penny has worked as a vocal coach for television shows such as It Takes Two, The Footy Show, Australian Idol (Melb. Auditions) and X Factor (Melb. Auditions). In addition, Penny has been developing a program for contemporary voice, coaching private students from her home.
