HILLARY FROST

Hillary Frost is a classically trained cellist and keyboardist. She is best known for her work with 80's Adelaide band Vertical Hold. They played a bouncy brand of pop which earned the group a strong following on home territory. Frost added a touch of musical class to the band's bright, accessible sound. Despite intermittent bouts of interstate touring, Vertical Hold remained virtually unknown throughout the rest of Australia. Hilary Frost is now Student and Faculty Manager at The National Academy of Music.

  1. It always surprised me that Vertical Hold weren't more successful outside Adelaide. My only exposure to them in NSW was an airing of "My Imagination" on Countdown in 1981 and "Tears of Emotion" getting a decent amount of airplay on my local station, 2MG, in 1982. I loved both songs.
