Barbara Lisyak (born in 1921) was one of the few women singers prominent in the early days of folk revival. As a member of the communist party and active in left wing choirs, she recorded as a solo artist on the Wattle label releasing ''The Old Woman and the Piggy / Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly'' and ''The Seven Joys of Mary / The Coventry Girl'' as singles on the old 78 rpm format and later performed and recorded as a member of the pioneering group The Rambleers with Chris Kempster, Denis Kevans, Alex Hood and Harry Kay . She and her husband John were central figures in the very early days of the folk revival in Sydney. She died in 2011 aged 90.
Dedicated to the lesser known women in the music industry from the 60s to the 90s.
