Joy Mulligan originally lived in Perth where she worked in television, radio and nightclubs. She was a member of Swingshift that released a couple of singles on the Clarion label. After arriving in Sydney, she was contracted to do her own weekly series of radio shows on the ABC, as well as guesting on television programs, such as The Don Burrows Collection on the ABC, The Midday Show etc. Joy supported Georgie Fame several times along with Don Burrows and George Golla at the original Supper Club. Her long residency was at the Bourbon & Beefsteak Bar in Kings Cross. Joy performed at all the major Australian jazz festivals. Kevin Hunt and George Golla were members of Joy’s trio Mulligan Stew. Joy Mulligan died in 2018.
