ANNETTE KLOOGER
Annette Klooger born in 1934 in Carlton was a jazz and swing singer whose career started at age 8 when she was singing on radio. When she was 14 she won a 500-pound prize and a trip to the USA. She was already doing the Tivoli circuit at this time and had recorded singles on the Columbia label in Sydney. Klooger went to UK in 1950 and sang with Teddy Foster Band 1951-1954 where she recorded a number of singles on Parlophone and Decca. Returning to Australia she hosted The Annette Klooger Show (a half-hour variety series that aired live in Melbourne) from 1959 -61. She appeared on many Australian shows during the 60s. In the 70s she moved to the USA with her husband Ray Taylor who began writing scripts for TV shows like Cosby, All in the Family, Barney Miller, Dinah! and Cher.
