LYN McKENZIE

Lyn McKenzie (also known as Lynette McKenzie) was a well-known Australian country singer, recording artist, and television personality based on the NSW Central Coast. She was first heard on record in a duet with Ian Betteridge. Signed to CM Records in Dubbo they released a single and EP in 1973. Lyn formed the popular country group Bandolin in the late 1980s. They quickly built a strong following touring at various venues and festivals around the Central Coast and Hunter Regions. She later formed a duo act, Mixed Brew with fellow artist Chad Plane. Lyn hosted her own country music program on 2CCC-FM. She also escorted Australian tour parties to country music festivals in Gore, New Zealand, and Norfolk Island, where she often performed as a guest artist. Lyn co-wrote the 2001 track "Christmas Time Again in Australia" with fellow country singer Ross McGregor. Lyn was a foundation member and the President of the Central Coast Country Music Association (CCCMA). The club, which started in 1976, made her a Life Member for her many years of dedicated service to local country music. Lyn died on January 1, 2008, after battling cancer.
