LORRAINE SIMKIN / LORRAINE DELANEY

 

Lorraine started her singing career at the Brazil Night Club in Brisbane under her maiden name of Lorraine Simpkin. She recorded her first single under the Sunshine label in 1974, ''Time Has Come'' which named her as Simkin not Simpkin. Lorraine was a regular on TVs Mike Walsh Show, Reg Lindsay’s Homestead and the Ray Martin Show. Lorraine worked the club venues with an A list of entertainers that included Johnny O'Keefe, The Platters, Frank Ifield, Frankie Davidson, Tom T Hall, Jimmy Little and Col Joye. These appearances led Lorraine being awarded Queensland Best Female Country Artist for two years. Lorraine was also in a rock and roll band called The 50's. The band was nominated for a Mo Award (Australian Music/Entertainment) in 1983. In 1987 she appeared on the album 'Melinda Johnstone and Friends' cutting two tracks, ''Candy In The Window'' and ''Pass Me By''.
