She is now known as a singer and songwriter of latin genres: tex-mex, mariachi, cumbia, tango and Cuban son, primarily with her bands Texicali Rose and The Pachuco Playboys. As lead vocalist and sax player with these bands she has been a regular at music and arts festivals around the country and released award-winning albums including World Music Album of the Year in Rhythms Magazine’s Readers’ Poll and Australian Album of the Year at the 2001 Australian World Music Awards.
Dedicated to the lesser known women in the music industry from the 60s to the 90s.

I had the great pleasure of experiencing Sally and Texicali Rose performing a 'rock opera' on the balcony of Melbourne Town Hall in 1997.
